About

Finally, a place on the Internet to complain about movies. None of us have any qualifications or insider sources, just a whole bunch of free time and bad opinions.

Hello there friends. I started this site as an escape from working my way through a major I hated while simultaneously working for a place that sucked away all creativity and enthusiasm. It's been my safe haven where I can shut out the world and focus on introspection, reflection, and Kurt Russell. It's a labor of love that is evolving into a place where friends of mine collaborate on things that they're passionate about. It began strictly as a movie blog and has morphed into an amalgamation of whatever any of us feels strongly enough to write 5,000 words on. There's no posting schedule or weekly features. There are no news dumps, link roundups, or trailers. If something catches our attention, we write about it. Whether it be a horror movie we grew up loving, a TV show we cherish, or a spur of the moment realization that a game we've been playing our whole lives is ripe for a deep dive into the depths of its silliness. There are no slideshows or listicles split into 10 pages, just gushing about things we love to anyone who cares to listen. Here's hoping it continues to grow over the next couple of years. Or someone hires us and makes us stupid rich.

Creator, founder, senior editor, editor in chief, writer, and anything else you can think of for the Rangers Retrospective. He's built that thing from the ground up and maintained it with a consistency that I can only dream of. He has more passion for that show than I've ever had for another human being and his earnest affection for it, warts and all, shines through in his work. Every word comes straight from the heart with an authenticity that's hard to find when the Internet is so full of people trying to be the loudest about hating something and everything is coated in ten layers of irony. He has impeccable comedic sensibilities and timing that don't come naturally, but have to be meticulously crafted over years. I trust his judgement on comedy more than anyone else I know and I don't feel comfortable posting anything - no matter how big or small - without him reading it and giving me the thumbs up.

Chris approached me about potentially writing something for me to post here, sheepishly adding that if I didn't think it was funny enough I didn't have to humor him. He sent me a draft and I sat down to look over it, ready to walk a careful tight rope of picking it apart, re-wording punchlines, and giving it a structure that made sense all while doing my best to not basically rework it into something of mine. Imagine my surprise when it was smart, clever, well-written, and most importantly had a distinct voice and style that instantly set it apart. I hadn't written anything in months and he sent me something I'd expect from a seasoned writer who had been tirelessly working the kinks out and finding their stride. I was furiously jealous. Any time life gets in the way of me creating content, Chris puts this site on his back. I'm going to be shit out of luck when somebody pays him what he's worth.

Sorry about all of us having screen names instead of using our real identities. None of our employers would be big fans of our work, and I can't speak for the rest of the guys but the last thing I need is the HR manager of my dream job googling me and finding, well, any of this.

  1. Hey, I just TOTALLY stumbled upon your Evil Dead [2013] review through the Horror Blogger Alliance [I'm a member too,] and wanted to say that I LOVE your style! It's basically what I'd WANT to do, but don't have time to do: so instead, I write shorter more to the point reviews.. that, and horror movie news.. Check me out sometime over at:

  2. Would you be interested in reviewing my indie horror film The Sky Has Fallen? It won Best Feature at the 2009 Freak Show Horror Film Festival and Best Horror Feature at the 2009 Indie Gathering Film Festival. It was also nominated for Best FX at the 2012 Maverick Movie Awards. It's a post-apocalyptic love story with all practical FX:

  3. Your review of "The Taking of Deborah Logan" was so spot on I didn't even realize my own shallow thoughts of it were not-so-spot-on. And holy crap you're a great writer and I love what you've done with the blog. So as a TV-Movie junkie I love this, and as a half-assed writer I really love this terrible blog. You are the first blog I will ever be bookmarking my friend.
